How to Calculate the Difference Between Two Dates

Step-by-Step Calculation Method:
- Step 1 (Years): Determine the maximum number of full, complete years that can fit between the Start Date and the End Date without overshooting.
- Step 2 (Months): From that anniversary point, step forward month by month until you reach the month of the End Date, ensuring you account for months of varying lengths (28, 29, 30, and 31 days).
- Step 3 (Days): Count the remaining days from the last completed month up to the exact End Date.
Calendar Math vs. Decimal Division
Why can't you just divide the total number of days by 30 to find the months? Because months do not have a fixed number of days. Attempting to convert "total days" into months using decimal division (e.g., dividing by 30.4375) will result in inaccurate dates.
Our calculator uses precise calendar iteration. If a month has 31 days, it counts 31 days. If it is February during a leap year, it correctly accounts for 29 days. This ensures that the result is legally and chronologically perfect.
