How We Handle Midnight Crossings
One of the most complex aspects of calculating elapsed time manually is handling boundaries where the clock resets (such as 12:00 AM midnight). If you start a shift at 11:30 PM and finish at 2:15 AM, simple subtraction breaks down because 2 is numerically smaller than 11.
Our calculation engine detects negative offsets automatically. When an End Time is chronologically smaller than the Start Time, it assumes the time has wrapped into the next day and applies a 24-hour mathematical correction seamlessly. You never have to manually adjust for night shifts.
